Iram Bilal and Aamina Shaikh receive awards for “Josh” at Silent River Film Festival
October 20, 2013: Dedicated to the independent filmmakers of the world, Silent River Film Festival fosters the vision to bring “East and West” together to share their best work of films and “Cinema for Causes” on one platform, to raise awareness about the issues that are important to us, and provide them active support. Centrally-located in beautiful Orange County, only 40 miles south of Hollywood, Silent River Film Festival is a huge draw for independent filmmakers and audiences worldwide.
The Award Night has just concluded and among other winners, Iram Parveen Bilal’s Josh won two awards.
Aamina Sheikh won the “River Admiration Award” for Best Actress. This award recognizes an outstanding work of an individual, film or an artist. The other nominees in this category were Adil Hussain (Lootera), His Holiness, the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa – Pad Yatra: A Green Odyssey and David Aristizabal – (Director – A Second Chance – Documentary – USA
Immediately after receiving the award, Iram Bilal tweeted:
Honored to be recognized at the Silent River Film Festival as Best Director. Though the audiences of this film are the best award ever, I have to admit that in the loneliness of being an artist, a nudge every now and then telling you that you aren’t completely crazy, is appreciated.
Josh was successfully released in Pakistan earlier in August this year and won accolades. The film had successful showings in the USA and had its premiere in Toronto as well which generated great feedback and response.
ApnaHub.ca was the online media partner for Josh screening in Toronto.
Josh will be screened in select theatres in the USA, we encourage you to follow their Facebook page for updates and showtime alerts!
